Fire protection ensures the availability and operation of data, data centers, and servers

Digitization has penetrated all areas of work and life. Nothing works without computing power, server capacity and data. The availability of all information and communication systems is essential.

Today, cyber-attacks on IT and telecommunications infrastructure pose the greatest risk of business interruption. However, in its latest Risk Barometer, Allianz also ranks the risk of fire or explosion 6th among the top 10 business risks for companies. Protecting critical infrastructures (KRITIS) from the destructive power of fire is therefore highly relevant from an insurance perspective. At WAGNER, we focus on early fire detection in combination with non-residual and non-destructive gas extinguishing, which ensures the continued operation of the infrastructure without having to shut down the power.

RISK ANALYSIS

Electricity and current load

The biggest risk potential lies in the high current load and number of electrical components, which can quickly lead to short circuits and overheating. In addition to the risky building infrastructure with its extensive wiring and raised floors, there is an enormous fire load due to the large number of flammable materials. The rapid spread of fire is facilitated by high air exchange with free cooling.

PROTECTION GOALS

Highly available infrastructure

  • Continuous data availability and infrastructure protection
  • Avoid power outages to ensure uptime
  • Protecting people and the environment
  • Avoidance of damage to corporate image
  • Achieving sustainability goals

SOLUTION

24/7 protection without disconnecting power

If you want to achieve these protection goals and cannot imagine shutting down the power supply or operation, the best solution is an integrated fire protection solution. This consists of early fire detection systems combined with a gas extinguishing system for fire suppression and/or oxygen reduction for fire prevention. Maintaining the extinguishing gas concentration for a defined period of time (reflooding) ensures sustained protection in the event of an alarm. Active fire prevention starts even earlier and protects against the development or spread of fire under defined conditions.
