Water mist technology at its finest
Fire fighting in the passenger areas of trains is essential for safety in rail transport. In many projects and with large numbers of applications, passenger areas of trains, but sleeping cars as well as other passenger areas, are equipped with automatic fire-fighting systems. Used exclusively, water mist systems limit the spread of a fire until the next possible stop and contain the smoke development, allowing people aboard to get to safety.
Water mist systems use water as the extinguishing agent, with water being sprayed from optimized nozzles in the form of very fine droplets. In this way, a small amount of water can absorb a large amount of energy. As an additional side effect, the development of smoke is limited.
BENEFITS
Reliably fights fires in passenger areas
An existing compressed air supply can be used to generate the water mist
Unique, innovative technology for generating very fine water mist droplets at a low pressure
FUNCTION
Our water mist fire-fighting system uses a unique technology for producing very fine droplets of water mist, even at a low hydraulic pressure of 8 to 10 bar. This is made possible thanks to the two-phase atomization of the water at the nozzle, with a low volume of gas being mixed into the extinguishing agent upstream of the nozzle. The innovative method generates extremely fine droplets that enable efficient fire fighting without high pressures. As a result, it can be integrated flexibly into rail vehicles as a space-saving solution, and can even make use of existing air compression systems and water tanks.
