Historic buildings are often of great importance for the documentation of our history and are therefore particularly worthy of protection. Fire insurance policies generally cover the material damage caused by a fire, but not the loss of human life, cultural-historical buildings and our cultural heritage. Protecting and preserving these irreplaceable values is a top priority.
Due to the different types of construction of historic buildings and the applicable building regulations, fire protection in historic buildings must always be considered individually. In addition, there are often conflicts of interest between fire protection and monument protection in fire protection planning. While monument protection aims to preserve the building structure, fire protection focuses on people and the preservation of the inventory.
WAGNER's individual fire protection solutions take both sides into account and offer fire protection in line with monument protection.
RISK ANALYSIS
Specific fire risks arise in historic buildings primarily from the type of use, the installed and existing materials and the resulting different fire loads. In the event of a fire – triggered by human error or faulty electronics, for example – the building materials used often accelerate the spread of fire, e.g. load-bearing elements and staircases made of wood. The lack of smoke vents and the small distances between buildings, as we know in old towns, promote the rapid spread of fire to other buildings. This often leads to unwanted chain reactions.
PROTECTION GOALS
BETTER SOLUTIONS IN FIRE PROTECTION
The earlier a fire is detected, the faster life-saving and value-preserving countermeasures can be initiated. Our highly sensitive TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors can be used for the earliest possible fire detection, that is also immune to false alarms, are ideal for use in historic buildings. The high sensitivity to smoke and the effective suppression of false alarms thanks to our fire pattern recognition means that fires are detected as soon as they start. Our aspirating smoke detectors can also be integrated almost invisibly into historic building architecture and, with a sound pressure level from 23 dB(A), are practically inaudible.
TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors offer reliable protection for historic and listed buildings as well as for irretrievable, unique works and values.
Depending on the use of the historic building and based on the risk analysis and definition of protection goals, our TITANUS® early fire detection system can be combined with our fire prevention (OxyReduct® ) and/or fire extinguishing (FirExting® ) systems.
BENEFITS
to preserve irretrievable values and historical architecture.
Holistic protection of our cultural heritage from damage caused by fire, extinguishing agents or smoke contamination.
Our fire protection meets the highest architectural requirements and can be integrated virtually invisibly and inaudibly into the building architecture.
Prevention of fire-related consequential damage and damage to image.
Our fire protection systems can be adapted to new requirements at any time.
Fire protection is monument and environmental protection. We detect fires in good time and prevent negative consequences for people and the environment.
