In its high-bay warehouse, Davert relies on WAGNER's innovative fire protection solution. In the automated warehouse at the company's site in Ascheberg, which went into operation in spring 2017, an oxygen reduction system together with an early fire detection system, which have been tested according to VdS 3527 and DGUV 105-001, protect the goods from fires and consequential fire damage.
For the fully automated high-bay warehouse, Davert chose the OxyReduct® oxygen reduction system for efficiency reasons and economic considerations, and rejected a sprinkler system. Davert also relies on sustainability and future-proofing for its energy supply: there is a photovoltaic system on the roof that generates up to 500 kilowatt hours per year and thus also supplies the electricity for the fire protection system.
Davert GmbH, a medium-sized company, was founded in 1973, is one of the pioneers of natural food production and is now one of the largest natural food suppliers in Germany.
RISK ANALYSIS
Davert relies on a fully automated warehouse that offers high efficiency and availability as well as optimal use of space. However, automated systems generally pose potential fire risks due to possible technical defects and electrical faults. Many of the stored goods are also highly flammable, which could cause a fire to spread quickly. The tall and narrow design of the warehouse also increases the chimney effect in the event of a fire, which can accelerate the spread of the fire.
PROTECTION GOALS
SOLUTION
WAGNER installed an OxyReduct® oxygen reduction system with energy-efficient VPSA technology. The system lowers the oxygen concentration in the fully automated high-bay warehouse to a level below the ignition threshold of the materials stored there. TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors were installed for early fire detection.
